This new distribution center will help the Food Bank of the Rockies address the growing need in the Western Slope region.

With a focus on efficiency and safety for the food bank’s daily operations, this new distribution center aims to create an appealing and welcoming presence for the public and volunteers.

The 6,500 sf wood-framed office building blends seamlessly with a 45,500 sf pre-engineered metal building containing loading docks, warehouse space, refrigerated storage, and food processing and distribution areas.

Large canopies provide convenient pickup for partner food pantries and for a commercial kitchen shared with Meals on Wheels. Flexibility and planning for growth will ensure that the building serves the Food Bank well for years to come. Open spaces are designed to suit a variety of planned and ad hoc activities, while the kitchen will accommodate additional future equipment and the east end of the building is detailed for easy expansion. Windows provide natural light throughout the offices and the warehouse, and a large garden near the front of the building helps emphasize the mission of “igniting the power of community to nourish people facing hunger.”
