St. Martin’s Place – for Grand Valley Catholic Outreach
Grand Junction, Colorado
St. Martin’s Place, a two phase project, provides long-term, dignified housing to low-income and chronically homeless veterans who do not have the means to transition into their own permanent housing. The owner wanted to provide housing for as many homeless veterans as possible by maximizing the number of living units, but code restrictions and zoning requirements on this tight urban site presented challenges.
Chamberlin Architects helped navigate the process to rezone the property, increase the density, reduce the setbacks, and waive some of the parking requirements which allowed for more appealing outdoor spaces. In all, four buildings provide 40 one-bedroom apartments.
