Renovation & Addition
Owner
437 Main, LLC
This renovation transformed a condemned 1890s billiard hall/tobacco shop into a street level retail store and Chamberlin Architects’ offices on the second floor.
Blocked windows and sealed skylights were opened to allow more natural light and to become focal points for the interior layout. Rehabilitating this building helped to maintain the historic character and continuity of the downtown shopping district.
An addition at the back of the building has a more modern finish with rusted corrugated metal siding and brightly painted trim. This building has housed Chamberlin Architects’ office since the early 1980s.
