Monument Ridge Elementary is the newest K-5 school for District 51. The design is the result of an extensive re-imagining process with SD51 personnel.
The new school includes classrooms for three sections of each grade level in a community setting, all focused around a central two-story media center. The design includes opportunities to add on, allowing growth to accommodate four sections for each grade level. Other features include a full-service kitchen, administration areas, support spaces, commons, maker’s space, break-out learning areas, gymnasium, and Pre-K.
Each classroom has natural light and can accommodate large classes, small groups, and individual learning. Interior materials are highly durable and cleanable. Furnishings are flexible and support technology. Security features include laminated glazing, an access control system, and indoor/outdoor security cameras. The grounds have a garden, playground structures, mini amphitheater, a covered play area, an outdoor classroom, and grassy fields. The south-facing classrooms have expansive views toward Colorado National Monument.
